Get SharePoint 2013 media, get SQL 2012 media, make some coffee.. PowerView here I come.
After having to do a registry fix for the installation I encounter the following error while running the PowerPivot Configuration Tool
Could not load file of assembly ‘Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=188.8.131.52, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c’ or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. Plsease address the validation failures and try again.
Funny how someone at Microsoft misspelled “Please”, but I am not really in a laughing mood.
So what can be wrong. I am guessing versions.
Not the PowerPivot Configuration Tool window:
Version 11.0.2100.1, this was installed from my SQL 2012 installation media.
Now let’s see what version Microsoft is writing about in the installation steps on MSDN http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh213173.aspx
Hmm, Version 11.0.2853.0
The target version is the SQL 2012 SP1 CTP
Now comes the long bit, try installing the update, if you don’t get any success you will need to download the slipstream version and rerun the installation for the POWERPIVOT instance.
Hope you come right.
