Performance improvement for B2B travel provider

2019

1. Business problem

Some travel searches during peak times were taking longer than expected and impacting user experience.

The business was questioning the value of a recent infrastructure upgrade.

​

2. Solution

Our DBAs worked to identify the cause of the performance issues and found the problem within 24 hours.

​

3. Outcome

The business engaged SQLDBA to implement a wide range of recommendations. Customer experience is great again.

Payroll application performance improvements

2021

1. Business problem

Payroll runs where taking longer and longer, up to 13 hours and block all report processing. This stopped finance operations during the weekly pay run.

2. Solution

One of our SQL DBAs had a look and implemented performance enhancements on the SQL server.

​

3. Outcome

Payroll runs on time, every time, while all report processing happens as normal and finance can keep on working.

Business Meeting

Performance improvements for retail picking

2023

1. Business problem

Picking stock is a critical operation for retail and logistics providers. Some of the daily picking was impacted by a slow running SQL server supporting the Warehouse Management application.

Picking went really slow just after lunchtime each day.

2. Solution

Our SQL DBAs evaluated the SQL environment and made a list of recommendations to implement to as performance enhancements on the SQL server.

​

3. Outcome

No more slowdowns after lunch. Picking operations are working as expected, and restocking stores as expected.

Consolidate SQL workloads for the government

2023

1. Business problem

Massive data platform sprawl leaves local government agency with managing way too many SQL servers.

​

2. Solution

Through consolidation and performance tuning, our SQL DBAs reduce the overall data platform footprint.

​

3. Outcome

From 120 SQL servers down to 16 SQL servers. 70% opex saving.

MSP Licensing blowout

2023

1. Business problem

Licensing blowout on Enterprise Edition was costing an MSP $19,000 per month.

​

2. Solution

Some performance tuning, some downgrades, some upgrades and consolidation of workloads were recommended and implemented. 

​

3. Outcome

Our DBAs were able to reduce the SQL licensing by 80%, to $3,800 per month. A $200k per year saving.
